That's about the first sentence innit, where she claims to know what Japanese say when being photographed.

Speculation on twitter (belated hat-tip) is that it might come from https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k8BcXxo ... be&t=2m55s (non-embedded link to cue to the desired time)

So was it an attempt at humor? If so, that's a pretty obscure reference.

I get the feeling that the writer believes it, that she didn't include it as an obscure reference. But it is hard to tell, really.

So....several months later and we're left with:

battaaa.jpg

410yen for 112g....that's 3.7Yen per gram of pure Yamamoto buttery goodness.

.....or Costco has this block of imported butter:

butter.jpg

768yen for 450g.....that's 1.7Yen per gram of sheep fucking hobbitlands finest.

Despite all the taxes, local butter still over 2x the price...and scarce. (empty shelves, even with all the newfangled margarine) Limit 1 per customer.

Recently, I have noticed less of a butter shortage.

May have been coincidence, though.

My local bulk foods store was sold out of butter yesterday. A month previously was fine.

Blame my wife, she held up the delivery truck and most of the Okinawa allocation is in the fridge.

Found some! Guess a shipment slipped through. :cool2:

I had seen the two ounce pats in the supermarket, but wanted a one pound block. Happy now. :)

I thought supplies were increased through additional imports, but apparently that isn't working.

Talk about a structural problem...

Even that we didn't have in the local supermarket.

Problems not resolved yet, it seems.
