After reading your post yesterday I looked it up. Apparently all the major internet conglomerates are throttling to preserve bandwidth to allow for dedicated use by medical types for the death flu, which sounds like a crock but could be true, and is just public minded enough to skate free to me, for now. I have noticed the Interwebz is much slower here in Vangroover, especially any streaming TV service, but that could be the antedeluvian system of interconnected vacuum tubes they call the internet infrastructure in this ancient Wet Coast condo where I am bunkered.

So, what I got from my research: Youtube has set all videos to run automatically at Standard Definition (SD?), but you can manually toggle them back to whatever is available, so if you are used to going Automatic like Hikaru Utada you might have to keep that in kind and manually toggle to get the resolution you deserve. Okay, bunker down, and don't breathe!!!!

I found the system they use to be complete crap, but if that's the show you want, that's where it is, depending on your VPN, I guess. I am going with a rewatch of Deadwood, then The Wire, and Justified, and if the quarantine demands, perhaps the Sopranos, followed by some classic 90s Jpn Dorama on Dramanice. This is happening here of course too - including cunts who thought it was fine to go to Italy, France and Spain under their current fucked circumstances.

But there's no tourism in Oz. People with no right to be there - eg no resident permit, no citizenship, no study permit, no work permit - can't enter. State borders are closed so other states could lock out people from cities like Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane from spreading the virus.

As for Koike and the sudden interest of her and the Abe Govt in infections after the Olympics were cancelled - yeah it's just coincidence - her message re staying home was just another example of the stupidity we've come to expect from a govt which doubles as Nippon Kaigi. 1 Telling old people to get the fuck off the subways and trains. They have no business to travel to. They've been exposing themselves to the virus since Jan this way. Tell em to go for a stroll in the local park with one other family member, people don't have to hunker down inside, fresh air is good but use your brains and don't hang out with groups.

This is even more important as guess what, like it is re the health system and the tax system, they get more than their share. They'll be on the ventilators etc when they catch the virus by hanging around the train and subway stations and on the moving vehicles but the problem is Japan is like everywhere else. Not enough of med equipment for this pandemic tho better than most countries.

2 Paying the older folks fit enough to patrol around on bicycles to stop smokers etc, plus younger ones who have no income cause of their workplaces closing to tell groups of spoilt brats - talking about parents here - to get the fuck out of the park in their groups and to control their little brats playing together in big groups on the playground equipment.

3 Paying the same older folks and younger ones to organize people into intelligent lines - ordering back the cunts I see everywhere breathing down others' necks, at supermarkets etc. Give em special caps plus quality masks and gloves.

4 Directly telling the cunts of young salarypersons that I've continually seen drunk after work in March cause of course corona's gone! to cut it out and go home. 5 Directly telling the uni students and school students who were given early holidays to supposedly stop infections spreading and then hung out in groups everywhere to fuck off home too. And shame their parents for not taking more responsibility in the school students cases.

The drug, developed by a subsidiary of Fujifilm Holdings Corp., is used to treat influenza. But it is also believed to be effective in treating the pneumonia caused by the virus.

Since the drug may cause birth defects, it cannot be used on expectant mothers or women who might get pregnant. Therefore, the drug has never been sold on the market and the stockpile has been maintained by the government as a precaution against an influenza outbreak.

Fujifilm Toyama Chemical Co. began clinical tests Tuesday to evaluate the efficacy of the drug, also known as Favipiravir, on COVID-19 patients. If it proves effective, the government might approve the drug for use as a treatment this summer.

The current stockpile of Avigan is enough to treat 700,000 people if used as an anti-coronavirus drug, and 2 million people as an anti-flu drug.

Yep, it is seriously scary now. The numbers look as if they are starting to take off but Mr Abe doesn't want to take action that may cost a lot of money and may upset the economy even more. Instead of using the grace period we have had to prepare better and learn from others' experiences we are just going to pretend it isn't a problem at all. Schools here open tomorrow but that's OK because the virus is mostly spread a night by people visiting bars and nightclubs after all.

I have some doubts closing schools is going to make much of a difference in the absence of a more complete lock-down. Seeing packed trains and buses, packed malls and shopping districts, McDonalds looks busier than ever, and a lot of community centers and sports clubs are back open for business. If we do go the lock-down route, that school window-dressing stunt part deux is not likely to cut it.
