No, not in the least! Say, now that you're back home, are you near any of the dog tracks?

The copper catches a car parked in lover's lane with a couple of doggers in the backseat. The copper yells in the window "Hey, kid what're you doing?" The scared kid says "nothing officer", The cop says, "Well then, move over and let a man in there!"

I'm the ultimate Japanophile. Although I don;t have any Japanese in me I have made sure that at least part of me stays in Japan.
However, if there were no Japanese girls I wouldn't give a lesser fuck about Japan.

On a more serious note, Oracle founder Larry Ellison has to qualify as a super Japanophile. His sailboat is named Syonara and he had a Japanese house moved from Japan and re-built in California piece by piece.

French President Jacques Chirac is a Japanophile with rumours that he has fathered a boy wioth a Japanese woman who now lives in Switzerland. Apparently he has made 48 trips to Japan in his lifetime.

I think he's more an Asiaphile,
because Chirac is also a Chinko-Fan or Sinophile

He doesn't want tariffs on China, calls for greater links with Korea, likes Vietnam, wants to sell the Chinese weapons ( Mirage fighter jets, tanks, missile tech.. )

It could all be some kind of Chirac-game so the rich French elite can make more money selling goods/tech to Asia region.
When the Chinese leader Jintao went to Paris, Jacques painted the city 'Red'

What you mention does not make him an Asiaphile. What a head of state does to further the business of his country is one thing but when he makes 48 personal visits to Japan that's a different issue. He is a definitive Japanophile and he is known for it in France.

Samurai sword attack man jailed
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/dorset/6599847.stm
A 23-year-old man impaled his best friend with an ornamental samurai sword, luckily missing any vital organs, a court has been told.

James Samson, from Ferndown, Dorset, was jailed for two-and-a-half years at Bournemouth Crown Court for the attack in the early hours of Christmas Day.

Samson, of Thames Close, had pleaded guilty to causing grievous bodily harm.

Samson's mother, Rose Phillips, said she believed her son deserved to be jailed as a warning to others.

Speaking outside court, she said: "If it is going to teach someone else not to play with knives and swords then I think he should serve some kind of custodial sentence, but I didn't think it should have been as long as that."

Fury at planned war shrine visit
http://www.theaustralian.news.com.au/story/0,20867,21823374-2703,00.html
..." Mr Lee, president from 1988 to 2000 and a lifelong Japanophile who spent the wartime years as a student in Kyoto, is reviled by the Beijing regime as an inspirer of the Taiwanese secession movement.
The Chinese objected to Mr Lee's two previous trips to Japan, and on Tuesday, even before news of his Yasukuni plans, the Foreign Ministry in Beijing made a "stern representation" to Tokyo.
But Mr Lee's proposed visit to Yasukuni would offend more than the Chinese.
It would remind Filipinos the month-long battle for Manila brought one of the worst civilian massacres of the Pacific War by the Japanese army and navy.
It would also offend native Taiwanese, who attacked Taiwanese politicians on their return from a Yasukuni visit in 2005, and members of Mr Lee's party, the Kuomintang, who view his Japanese affiliations as a betrayal of Chinese heritage.
Former Japanese prime minister Junichiro Koizumi prayed annually at the shrine, infuriating Beijing and Seoul, which refused any summits with him. "

The romance is over
http://www.nzherald.co.nz/section/2/story.cfm?c_id=2&objectid=10442553
The former French President Jacques Chirac will soon be questioned by magistrates on his alleged use of an illegal bank account in Japan with a possible South Pacific link...
...The former President is a great Japanophile, a fan of Sumo wrestling and an expert on Japanese art. He has visited 54 times in 37 years.

After the French obsession with Josephine Baker dancing you had a France period of 'Négrophilie' the West and France also looked to theb Orient, Arabia, India, now years after 911 there is a cultural and demographic change, a writer like Rushdie stabbed. The West has now been totally transformed, maybe the Whites the Christians will run from their homelands again, a flood of Ex-Pats you will have Sinophiles, Argentinophiles, Japanophiles other Xenos-philes...as Whites once again flee their Native Populations. opposite is type of Yellow Peril vs Yellow Fever, Japanophobia, Ultra-Nationalism?

Sorrows of Empire?
https://www.australianbookreview.com.au ... rs-johnson
For Johnson, the US is caught up in a self-perpetuating cycle of imperial expansion. As he writes: ‘It would be hard to deny that oil, Israel, and domestic politics all played crucial roles in the Bush administration’s war against Iraq, but I believe the more encompassing explanation for our second war with Iraq is no different than that for our wars in the Balkans in 1999 or in Afghanistan

The grizzly truth about the West We have forgotten the basic principles of civilisation
https://unherd.com/2024/07/the-grizzly- ... -the-west/

The past month of American politics has been utter chaos. Former president Donald Trump survived an assassination attempt by a matter of millimetres. Joe Biden went to Las Vegas, reportedly got Covid, and disappeared completely from public view. A day after his campaign team insisted he would stay in the race for president, he dropped out via a letter posted to X.

These bizarre events are shrouded in mystery. Conspiracy theories abound. Did Trump arrange for the shooter to nick his ear with a bullet so that he could rise from the ground bloodied but unbowed? Did the Democrats blackmail Biden into ending his campaign? Who, if anyone, is in charge?

Unfortunately, Western democracies require high levels of trust to survive. It’s what distinguishes us from, say, Somalia, where warring clans settle disputes by bloodshed. But we seem to be devolving rapidly into our own warring clans. Trump’s opponents have worked for years to paint him as a racist, a bigot, an antisemite, and a Nazi. They’ve slandered and libelled his supporters, too, and the poisonous fruit of these concerted efforts is now ripe for picking. What is more, the opaque machinations of the Democrats to remove Biden from the ticket are strongly reminiscent of Shakespearean hugger-mugger, with Kamala Harris playing a wheedling Regan or Goneril to Biden’s King Lear.

Donald Trump, Kamala Harris, and the Tottering American Empire
https://www.unz.com/runz/donald-trump-k ... an-empire/

Collapsing empires may often flail about in strange fashion before they go into the darkness. Recent developments in American political life brought those thoughts to my mind.
