You have no idea. My wife grew up during the bubble when her father made 20,000+ US$ a month and had no qualms about giving his teenage daughters a 1k a pop allowance. "Spoiled" does not begin to describe her lifestyle with her parents.

On top of that, her parents, who are generally fairly nice people, had an unfortunate child-raising philosophy which consisted less of "talk to/correct/understand your children and their problems" than "throw money at them to distract them".

My wife and her sister didn't speak to each for 2 years because of a stupid ass arguement where they called each other names. I dont mean they were on bad terms or pissy or anything, I mean they didn't utter a single to each other for 2 actual, entire years! My sister and I never stopped speaking and we were horrible to each other as kids

She has anger management issues to say the least. I still enjoy being with her, and things have calmed down considerably since our first year together, but she first needed to understand that she couldn't get away with just screaming and yelling or trying to hit or throw things at me to get her way because I wouldn't put up with it.

I've never laid a hand on my wife in anger or with the intent of hurting her, and when I don't go off on tirades and scream and yell when I am angry or anything. I do not think that saying "if you throw shit at me, I will throw it back" is a threat, it is a statement of intent to defend myself, and considering that I only ever had to say that once to stop the behavior, I'd say it was an effective response.

She still gets angry about something, and stomps around the house every couple of months or so, but she doesn't throw shit at me, and after she's blown off steam by stomping on our hardwood floors she calms down and we talk about whatever the problem is calmly and it ends up solved.

And just a an end note to the bit about your own wife, some people are just wired differently. We do what works for us, you do what works for you, we all get by, it doesn't make you or your wife better than either of us.
