Hanabi, Yaks, and abandoned children

Sorry, Tommy, was out early and headed down to the Kanazawa Hakkei beach hanabi fest. They had "glasses" fireworks...meaning the damn thing looked like a pair of glasses, hadn't seen that one before.

The fireworks shaped like spectacles have been around for a few years.
I was impressed with the Hello Kitty and "bon-bon" (candy shaped) ones as well.
Since we watched it from the house, I missed a lot of the low level bits.

Those were bon-bons? I thought they were knit caps as they were around the time of the glasses. Seen the Kitty and "maybe they are bon-bons" before, but never the glasses. Near the end, they also had these red ones that....kinda seemed to linearly climb on each other in a stepwise manner before blowing up into something decent. (Ok, I woke up 10 minutes ago, and that's the only way the brain is telling me to describe that particular firework).

Damn, Tommy, when you posted that message I was right above you in sipping a coffee on the 7th floor of the Tamagawa Shopping Center. Subsequently got out of there as quickly as possible before the place turned into a zoo. Unfortunately didn't get online to see this message until now, though. Well, anyway, I enjoyed *listening* to the fireworks from several kilos away. Hope you had fun.

Yeah, it was a fuckin mess. The place overloaded with the Kanagawa inakamon people (350,000 of them) in no time and quickly overloaded the cellular transmitters making it impossible to make and receive any phone calls or do any emails. I guess the inaka part of Setagaya is still behind the times in infrastructures even though it is part of Tokyo.

We had the most spectacular view in the house and everyone had a blast. We even let in some random hot J-gals in yukata we picked up at the train station. Hopefully, we didn't pick up any STDs with them afterwards...

Even though we were close to the launch ground, the fireworks themselves were not as great as the Tokyo Bay hanabi. There were way too many blank intervals to kill time for the lack of hanabis due to the piss poor Mr. Obama-economy this year. Furthermore, we did not get to see anything as dope as THIS.
