I tried watching a few minutes of one of the clips from that "Wife Swap" show, but the Oprahbabble (in Mayumi's case, the Jgo-accented Oprahbabble) was just too much to take. Still, with her lustrous black hair (which I'm sure Big Daddy Heene mandates with his pimp hand), and her slightly psycho demeanor (which she shares with the luscious Princess Masako)...yeah, I'd throw her a bang!

Lawyer: Colo. balloon boy parents to plead guilty

Postby Samurai_Jerk » Fri Nov 13, 2009 12:23 am

DENVER – The Colorado parents who reported their 6-year-old son floated away aboard a helium balloon will plead guilty to some charges in an attempt to keep the family together, the attorney for the boy's father said Thursday.

Richard Heene will plead guilty to attempting to influence a public servant, a felony, his attorney David Lane said. Mayumi Heene — a Japanese citizen who could have been deported if convicted of more serious charges — will plead guilty to false reporting to authorities, a misdemeanor, he said.

Prosecutors have agreed to allow both to serve probation sentences, Lane said. The Oct. 15 event raised questions about whether the couple were fit parents, and social workers were contacted. Lane didn't address whether the pleas would include monitoring of the couple, and prosecutors did not immediately return a phone message Thursday morning. Mayumi Heene's attorney, Lee Christian, also did not return a call.

The most serious of the charges recommended by Larimer County Sheriff Jim Alderden would have carried a maximum sentence of six years in prison.

Keeping the family together was a main factor in reaching the deal, Lane said.

"Upon reviewing the evidence, arguably, Mayumi could have possibly ended up being deported and Richard could have proceeded to trial and had a good chance at an acquittal," Lane said. "This, however, would have put the family at grave risk of seeing a loving, caring, compassionate wife and mother ripped from the family and deported. That was not an acceptable risk, thus these pleas." ...

what i want to know is who is going to look after the kids while they're in the pokey. surely child services should have stepped in here and taken them away, no?

Mayumi Heene was sentenced to "20 days alternative jail time" which in Larimer County Colorado means 20 days of house arrest with an electronic leg shackle and a few hours of community service picking up trash from the roadsides in blaze orange clothes.

Richard Heene was sentenced to 90 days in maybe the cushiest* county jail in America (hell, they offer kayaking as an exercise option), Larimer County Detention Center. According to the Denver Post: "He will have to serve 30 days of the sentence full-time in the Larimer County jail, with the remaining 60 days served on work-release...[Mayumi will] perform jail-supervised community service a couple days a week and return home at night."

ok, i get that neither of them are going to serve real jail time, but these two nutcases are not what i'd call good role models or people who are fit to be parents. it's bad enough that they were on that wife swap show, but then pretending their kid flew away in a balloon as a publicity stunt? that's just wrong. they'd be a lot better off with a relative or somewhere that doesn't condone batshit crazy stunts to get attention. i can just see little falcon in 10 years torturing animals or shooting people from the roof of a bank to get atention.

Father in Colorado balloon boy saga denies hoax

The Colorado father who pleaded guilty to a felony in the runaway balloon saga insisted in an interview set to air Friday that the event wasn't a hoax.

In his first television interview since shortly after the Oct. 15 event, Richard Heene said that he believed that his 6-year-old son, Falcon, was in the homemade balloon when it took off from the family's Fort Collins backyard.

"We had searched the house, high and low," Heene said, choking back tears during a taped interview for "Larry King Live" that will air on CNN. "I knew he was in the craft. ... In my mind there was no other place."

Heene said he pleaded guilty to a felony count of falsely influencing authorities to protect his wife, Mayumi, a Japanese citizen who he said may have faced deportation if convicted of a more serious crime. Mayumi Heene pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor charge of false reporting. ...

As indicated above, right before he reported to jail, Richard Heene denied this whole thing was a hoax. Too bad his ninja wife had already confessed. On tape:

Video interviews disprove Richard Heene's claims wife didn't confess

I don't think this attention whore has ever lived in Japan (IIRC).
And I would say it appears that he was a loser long before he met his "Ninja wife". I can't understand why anyone bothers to give a douche bag like this the time of day. I for one am not going to waste time watching his attempt at an infomercial.

This gets weird---the quoted state patrolman named "Danny" is my friend Danny Salas (I lived in Fort Collins for 7 years) and I just emailed him to ask for details.

Personally, I think Mr. Henne has the hots for Karen. It's so obvious. I mean, the man wrote a song for her. He probably never wrote a song for Mayumi. The structure that Karen provided for the kids was amazing. I feel a bit sorry for Mayumi. She is clearly not enough of a woman for her husband. I see wonderful qualities in both women, though. In the beginning I didn't think much about Karen, but in the end all she really needs is a good fu$$King. Mayumi needs lay down some basic house rules and a little structure would go a long ways.
