Hmmmmn, well that strikes me of the list of Nippon lovers. I am not living that there dream.

On second thoughts, that could sum up McTojo.

RIP. Didn't know GJ in RL, but his posts did make me laugh. I'm sad that I'll never get to meet him, and my thoughts and prayers go to his loved ones.

This was the saddest news I've heard in a long time. I was always looking forward to getting back to Japan to have just one more beer with Freedom, one of my favorite people that I met in my travels to Tokyo. I guess I was also wanting to return to those crazy times, video taping Rob Pongi's antics in Roppongi, partying, dancing, getting shut down by the cops, eatin' sloppy kabobs, chasing girls, and drinking 'til dawn. I guess those days are long gone, but never forgotten.

I'm the one that taught Freedom how to edit video and he caught on very quickly. I was happy to see him making videos for his family, friends, and even in his professional life. Those will live on. He also taught others how to tell stories using video. The TokyoDV era was at the very early stages of vlogging, and Freedom was one its pioneers. Freedom was posting videos to the web years before YouTube even existed.

If you are missing him, check out these videos on vimeo.com: https://vimeo.com/freedomdv/videos
Here's some TokyoDV classics: http://www.youtube.com/user/TokyoDVHD?feature=watch

I am sure of one thing. The time that Freedom spent with us enriched us all. He will be missed so very much. So long Free....
It's been way too long, I should return to Tokyo and make a visit. Hope you all are well.

Mr Sparkle!! Oh my - blast from the past.

Sorry to reconnect with you with such sad news. Freedom was just a wonderful wonderful human being.

How are things with you? Still in SF?

Thanks for your kind words mr. sparkle. I'm frequently reminded of Freedom: Here on the FG his thousands of comments pop up all the time such as in the "Earthquake!" thread---GuyJean's words always bring a smile to my face.

+1

He was always such a cool dude with a sensible outlook. Often he was the guy who was able to cut through the forum bullshit and tell it like it is.

Hello GG,
Long time! I still have photos of all of us drinking in Golden Gai. Do you still have that bar there? Yes, we will certainly miss Freedom. Glad you got to say your goodbyes at least.

Things are going well. I am now working at a big company (Starts with "A," not the most obvious "A") helping others with video editing issues. I'm no longer the starving artist. I still live in SF, though I gave LA a try '06-'08. Rob visited me there once. All is well. I am fat and happy. Looking forward to more travels very soon!

Cheers,
Sparkle-san

Hi TT,
How are you, man? Yes, it's awesome that you can still hear the voice and see the smile on his face. I'm going to have to go through some of those threads.
