$500.00USD and you could live like a king over there. (for a week or two. depending on how much you spend)

Place is hot! I loved it. The Muay Thai fights and the chicks! What more can a guy ask for?

One other thing I forgot to ask. Should I worry about reserving hotels rooms/bungalows? May and June seem to be the high seasons. Only problems is a lot of these places dont advertise online which limits choices.

Yes, you probably should reserve everything before you go. If it's peak season, the tourists will be trying to grab the best deals early. You would be surprised how many hotels advertise online.

Couple more things:

1) Will I need a converter for the electrical outlets or not?
2) Will customs confiscate pirated media/products purchased while in Thailand?
3)What precautions are really necessary in the way of diseases? I researched it a bit and things dont seem to be too bad, requiring no immunizations. Just watch what you eat.

1) Never had any problems.
2) No comment.
3) No particular precautions necessary. Bring bug repellant just in case.

You're going to need some sunscreen too. You can buy Nivea SPF 30 in any Thai drugstore. Don't forget to put some on, sunstroke can ruin a vacation. Bug juice also available in BKK drug stores.

I don't buy the SW, but I did enjoy seeing what you could get. It's a good laugh. Take a look at Phantip Plaza, near the World Trade Center Mall. It's really amazing! Get some Thai Party music to bring home to friends. It's hilarious.

Speakin' o' shopping malls--you have to check out some of the wacky ones they've got. I like MBK (Maboonkrong Plaza) for it's wide variety of weirdness and cheap movies. Good way to beat the midday heat too. Right near Siam Square.

MBK rocks!

Monkeypants mentioned the Weekend Market. That is one of the coolest places~ It's right next to the SkyTrain, so go there on Sat. or Sun.--it's amazing! Good crafts at rock bottom prices--just halve the price and go up from there. Blast Furnace HOT there though. Drink yer liquids!

SkyTrain-cheap, clean, fast and AIR CONDITIONED (whew)

If you are up early, the flower market is really amazing as well. It's not far from the Grand Palace.

Bring some thick handkerchiefs or face masks. Every once in awhile, you'll get stuck walking down a street where the fumes might get overwhelming from traffic. Seriously.

You have a hotel, right? If not, I have some recommends for cheap four stars. Stay in a kick ass hotel, you only live once. It's cheap as hell there for something nice. A nice meal by the river is nice--just wear that bug juice!

If you just cannot stand BKK--you can take a 90 minute van ride to Cha Am. Nice village bungalows or you can stay at the Regent Cha Am Resort--plush 4 star for cheap.

chill out in cha am
