Luge has got to be one of the queerest sports known to man. I mean come on.. you have two guys with spandex suits lying on top of each other and going down a gigantic slide. No wonder Europeans are good at this..

I wonder what happened to the Jamaican bobsleigh team? They finished quite creditably in the last Olympics but don't seem to be making an appearance this time around.

Luge and Bobsled kick ass! Traveling 120 kph just centimeters off the ground is a pussy sport?

This coming from someone who probably loves American Football.. Where one big guy in spandex holds his hands up against another even bigger guy in spandex's balls. ;)

Fiat had a fundraiser in a disco for them somewhere close to the action in Italy. They said they were trying to raise money to compete next time.

I'm not sure that you can call them "competitors" when it isn't even a sport. Snowboarding is not a sport. It's a good goof, but there is nothing sporting about it whatsoever. It's the olympic event that even stoners and drunken ozzies can participate in.

I would consider it a sport if they would snowboard off the 120 meter ski jump. Or maybe if they changed the ludicrous "snowcross" event by giving the snowboarders weapons and making it a duel.

Mr Kobayashi: First, I experienced a sort of overpowering feeling whenever I was in the room with foreigners, not to mention a powerful body odor coming from them. I don't know whether it was a sweat from the heat or a cold sweat, but I remember I was sweating whenever they were around.

Not a single bleeding medal so far. Ms.Tsuru has even stopped watching it to prevent any more disappointments. FFS, even the UK is doing better!

Just curious... how much coverage do these olympics get in Japan?

[quote="amdg"]Americans sometimes have an inexplicable difficulty understanding what the word &#8216]

You might have a point there amdg! As your basic Yank, I am a bit of a tight pants buff. But I always believed that in professional fishing which is a sport also, you have to present the lure to the fish properly and when one has more meat hanging down than Oscar Myer has hanging up, tight pants are the only sporting way to go. I get more hits stolling the pub with skin tight knickers than any dude with the double pleats.

Unfortunately, this is beyond the qualifying rounds for Charles as he seems to indicate that he has a small pee pee.

Umm. I don't know Charles. I wonder about you sometimes.

Why wouldn't it be a sport? Instead of two ski's (which are essentially thin boards attached to one foot each) there is one board.

Snowboarding has a tricks competition (as does skiing). Boardercross is a sport as a cross between snowboarding/wrestling.

Then there is the parallel giant slalom.

There isn't a downhill speed competition at this olympics though people DO compete that way.

Having watched that American girl hot dog her way out of a Gold Medal does make me wonder whether Bordercross might not be better consigned back to extreme sports from whence it came.

But I still like the sport. If its a sport. IT adds a little excitement to the games. I still don't think skeleton should be a sport even though Canada did pick up the gold, silver in men's, and silver in women's.

Oh my god. I finally watched a little glimpse of the olympics highlights today when I saw that American boarder chick, having a commanding lead, decided to show off and crash at the very end to lose her gold. That was seriously the most hilarious moment I have ever seen in these rediculous games called the olympics. What the fuck was she thinking? I bet she is still crying and can't get over the fact that she was inches away from Gold and let it slip because of a stupid mistake. Better not celebrate until you WIN.. next time. :cliff:

I think Taro said it earlier somewhere.. that there have been so many awesome crashes. There have been so many that it really makes me wonder if these "athletes" are really top-notch world class.
