Why not try to work it out? Because I am not interested in her as a girlfriend, especially one who becomes this obsessive. Plus as I mentioned, I found a nice young woman who seems relatively normal by comparison.

Thanks Yaki. That is a lot of it. It's definitely nothing against one-night-stands. What chaps my ass, like I said, is everyone passing judgement on this chick, especially based on that note. Sharing yourself sexually can be really intense and we all know that. We're all cool with the quick exchange of the physical intimacies but we act shocked and disgusted when someone shares some psychological intimacies afterwards. I've had a few stalkers in Japan over the past two years or so. Most of them were birds I'd met just casually and didn't even sleep with. They still showed at 3 am looking spaced out and ragged, phoning me at all hours of the day and night, spreading rumors about me on the internet and around town, and 1 threatened to kill herself. They all had some kind of obvious psychosis or disassociation from reality. The one night stand was simply your introduction, it wasn't the cause of her behaviour.

In every case I found that trying to be compassionate and help them, let them down easy, etc. just doesn't work and makes them more desperate to hold onto you. If you're nice at first, and then you finally get fed up and are firm with her, that's when she'll threaten suicide. The only way is to simply avoid her entirely. Don't answer her calls, don't answer the door if she's there, and if you see her in public just remain silent and keep walking. That's the nicest thing you can do for someone who's about to become hopelessly dependant on you.

Sorry to sound cold. I have a brother with a mental illness so I feel compassion for girls who are sick, but you can't validate their dream world. I can't say to my brother "Hey, how's your secret CIA mission going?" because that would reinforce the things he's imagining.
