Very good questions. I think this is a great road trip idea: "the quest for nyotai mori". With the Spring weather, I'm itchin' for a road trip anyway.

Sounds great! Uhhh, can I play mandolin for my dinner? I think this is a bit out of my league.

Speaking of Onsen Geisha I just read Snow Country. I think English teachers are kind of in the same boat. The older you get the more fucked you are!

You can always do what I do, leave after midnight, sleep a few hours in the car (or night bus) and ASA-BURO in the morning at a rotenburo.

Hotels are so pricey in Japan, Travelers sleep in their cars
The Associated Press /4/5/04 8:20 AM /The Wall Street Journal
HAKUBA, Japan -- Toshimi Kozuma frequently skis at top alpine resorts, such as this one in Japan's rugged central mountains. But after a long day on the slopes, the 54-year-old and his friends shun the village's gingerbread chalets and cozy wooden lodges. Instead, they crawl into sleeping bags in the back of his Isuzu Como minivan.

Mr. Kozuma can afford a hotel room -- the Tokyo sales manager earns $100,000 a year. But he is boycotting Japan's notoriously expensive hotels, which have resisted lowering rates despite falling prices for almost everything else. He and dozens of like-minded rebels are making a statement by pulling up in public parking lots right next to hotels and defiantly sleeping in their cars.

"For the price of one night in a hotel, I can sleep in my car for a week," says Mr. Kozuma. "Leisure is just too expensive in Japan."

BBC
The practise of eating sushi off naked or nearly-naked women has long been popular with a certain clientele in Japan.

But the authorities in China said the restaurant's actions violated women's rights, as well as laws on advertising and food sanitation.

They also said the women used to display the sushi were not suitably dressed for restaurant employees.

Meanwhile, Stella and Danny investigate the death of a fashion designer who was found in her penthouse pool. The case leads them to a sushi restaurant that specializes in food served on nude models.

A Chicago restaurant is offering a controversial way to serve sushi: on a nearly-naked woman, with leaves, shells and other decorations strategically placed for a very appetizing meal.

Sun-Sentinel: 4 questions for the seminaked sushi lady
Body Sushi, raw fish served atop raw flesh at upscale eatery Kizoku, 358 W. Ontario St....It's the talk of the town...Lost in the media buzz about the dishes has been the dish, that former belly dancer who, five nights a week, gets paid $100--plus tips--to allow parties of diners to mix fish flesh with fantasy. She's 24. Her name is, simply, Tabitha. "It's more difficult than it looks. I have to concentrate on staying still and control my breathing," said Tabitha, echoing what some male customers will likely say".

Q What makes it difficult?
A It's all about muscle control, so the food doesn't fly off.

Q What do you think about while you're lying atop a table, nearly naked, for an hour and a half ?
A I can hear the diners and I listen to the music, but I'm in my own world.

Q How have the customers treated you?
A People are afraid to go, then they take pieces from my stomach first. The breast pieces normally are the last eaten. Maybe it's their nerves. It is borderline naughty.

Q Do you enforce any rules of etiquette?
A No tickling; don't be too funny. I don't want to laugh. Be good with your chopsticks--you don't want to drop anything. No forks!

Shouldn't you be recycling, Gomichild?

I just throw the "packaging" in the recycling tub ...

Damn, I never noticed those! I better starting turning them over and checking! I might be violating, among other things, environmental policies.

NWITimes: Chesterton man serving up sushi au naturale
Chesterton resident Eddy Pinto has been all over the news the last few weeks. Don't recognize the name? How about the story of a downtown Chicago restaurant serving sushi on the body of a nearly-naked woman? That was Pinto's idea and he and his business partner have struck on something big.

The Kizoku Sushi & Lounge...is already booked for most of December, he said. They have hired a second woman to serve as a human buffet table and plan to begin serving up meals on a man sometime after the start of the new year. "I've had phone calls from guys like you wouldn't believe," he said, referring to the upcoming spot for a man.

Pinto, who lives in Chesterton with his wife and children, said he first saw sushi being served on a woman while traveling in Japan 10 years ago. He began using it as a centerpiece for parties he threw for friends and quickly learned he was not the only fan. "Everybody couldn't wait until Eddy Pinto threw that party," he said. The idea for the business venture came to him and today, patrons of the restaurant pay $500 for a party of four, with a maximum of six people. The buffet lasts 90 minutes.

The food is carefully placed along the woman's body and patrons are free to pick and choose at they wish, Pinto said. Hygiene concerns are addressed by placing disposable bamboo leaves between the food and body, he said, while strategically placed sea shells offer a minimal level of modesty. Despite the temptation, Pinto said there has not been any inappropriate behavior.

When the meal is over, the model dresses and comes back into the room to meet with customers and answer questions. The work is pretty lucrative for the models, who earn $100 for each seating, plus tips. The buffet attracts an even number of men and women, Pinto said, and many compliments. "Everybody loves taboo," he said.

While a big hit in Chicago, Pinto doubts the body sushi buffet would go over very well back home in Northwest Indiana. He is interested, however, in someday opening a sushi restaurant and a wine and champagne store.

On of Japan's more interesting characters, Tomomi Sawaguchi (real name Ume Yamada), has just died of leukaemia at the age of 44. Sawaguchi was a former member of the Self Defence Force who, on leaving the service, was approached by a scout in Ikebukuro and took up stripping. She was famous for "naked sushi" parties although she said that people ate almost everything from her body during her career.

Sawaguchi looked to establish Kazegumi, a union for sex industry workers and was also a well-known antiwar activist. She was one of several Japanese who went to Iraq in 2003 to act as volunteer "human shields" where she became the centre of media attention.

We haven't had anything about Hungarian celebrities for a while:

In other news from Hungarian Hollywood, Geza Kaszas, host of RTL Klub's cooking show "Receptklub" recently found himself in hot water with his wife Zsuzska after it was revealed that he had eaten sushi off of a naked woman who wasn't Zsuzska, and possibly copped a feel while doing so...He then apparently made things worse by denying he had any regrets, explaining that "a man is a man"...Hungary's recipe king should remember that revenge, like sushi, is a dish best served cold.

It is interesting to note that she would die of leukemia. I am told they often attribute AIDS deaths to leukemia.
