I guess the Heene's are trying to get some positive PR, but me thinks they were better off keeping a low profile. A million bucks for the balloon? Come on.

The parents of the Florida "Balloon Boy" said they are selling the infamous balloon to raise money for victims of the Japanese tsunami.

Richard and Mayumi Heene of Spring Hill, who made headlines in October 2009 when they falsely claimed their son, Falcon Heene, had stowed away in the balloon when it was launched into the sky, said the balloon is being auctioned with a "purchase now" price of $1 million to raise money for relief in Japan, where Mayumi has family members, the St. Petersburg (Fla.) Times reported Thursday.

The article is calling him the "Florida Balloon Boy" but I recall they lived in Colorado at the time of the fiasco.

Balloon Boy is Back!

Postby Samurai_Jerk » Thu Dec 13, 2012 10:50 am

‘Balloon boy’ Falcon Heene now fronting ‘world’s youngest metal band’

Three years after being exploited by his father in a hoax involving a homemade flying saucer that floated across Colorado, captivating millions of live television viewers who thought he might be inside, Falcon Heene is once again part of a questionable family-driven project: fronting a metal band.
The 9-year-old Falcon and his brothers Ryo, 12, and Bradford, 13, are collectively known as the Heene Boyz, or "the world's youngest heavy metal band," as their notorious father, Richard Heene, calls them.
According to the Broward-Palm Beach (Fla.) New Times, which published a 4,000-word profile on the Heenes, the "Boyz" practice and perform near their home in Spring Hill, Fla., where the family moved in 2010.
The homeschooled Heenes learned to play their instruments from lessons on YouTube: Falcon on bass, Ryo on drums and Bradford on guitar. And Falcon—who accidentally revealed the balloon saga was a reality-show-baiting stunt in an interview with Wolf Blitzer and then threw up during one with the "Today" show—serves as the lead singer.

I predict he'll go down like a lead balloon.

Considering we're talking about a grown woman and a 9-year-old boy, I reckon I'm pretty safe in this case (and, despite being Catholic, not really inclined to compare anyway. And, like the Fenchie said, I saw the movies, too. She gave great head for a millionaire heiress.)

The 'Balloon Boy' scammer, Richard Heene, has a new shakedown.

Do I hear anybody asking, "What about Mayumi, the Ninja Wife?"
Heene says she works to support him and their boys (YouTube).

That hokey shakedown contraption isn't the only POS that the balloon scammer came out with.
(I only managed to make it through about 20 secs of this one.)

Ironically their mother would be denied entry to the country, unless the exclusionism only excludes latin@s and muslims (it is hard to tell, since it is made up on the fly).

It’s easy to dismiss uptalk as the airhead’s language quirk, but it can be a useful way of speaking: Ritchart and Arvanti identified an interesting way uptalk is used – to “hold the floor,” or to let the listener know they’re not done talking. The uptalk sort of acts as a verbal comma, explains Arvanti, who notes that their study is not the first to find this usage. For example, in the map experiment, the speaker might say something like, “OK, so, go toward Warren?” before continuing on with his instructions (“And then do you see Valley Mall?”). Ritchart and Arvanti found that 45 percent of “floor holding” instances used uptalk, and 16 percent of simple statements did, too.

OK, so we all on the same page?

Just a pet peeve of mine but nearly every Asian I know who speaks English, first or second language, seems to far too often use "i see" or "I C" as a reply. (txt/e-mail, never spoken)
