How do I travel to another state by flight?

How do I book a flight from one state to fly to another? For those who have done this before, I'm sure it's familiar, but I haven't done this before (always had it done by other people when I was a small kid, who hardly remembers), just wondering.

Can I get info please? And please, if you could, reply with details on step by step on what to do. I have no idea on how to look for a ticket, and steps into finding what plane to get, cost, when I have to arrive to the airport before it actually leaves. Plus no idea what I am allowed to bring or how much.

I'm pretty much clueless, can someone help me please? Would appreciate it.

Sorry, couldn't help but tease you. When you say "state to state" do you mean a prefecture in Japan? It's just airport to airport.

I assume you are referencing the United States.

The easiest thing to do is sign up for an account at Travelocity or Orbitz or one of the major air flight ticket aggregators.

They have instructions and can find you reasonable flights between 2 cities.

Depending on where you want to go, t.e.d. (United's discount carier) or Southwest or JetBlue are cheapest, but they don't fly everywhere.

If you mean prefecture-to-prefecture then the cheapest way is to do it online through the airline sites. It's all Japanese though so you're going to need to either be able to read or have some help.

Otherwise just go to any of the dozens of gaijin-oriented travel agencies and ask for a good price. In the Kansai area I recommend Academy Travel at 06-6303-3538. They'll send tickets anywhere in Japan though so as long as you don't need to fly same-day you can still use them from elsewhere.

As for departures, in Osaka you have to be at the gate 15 minutes before departure time. A bit earlier is better of course, but generally things move quickly.

As for luggage, most people travel with just carry-ons. If you have large luggage you want to send use Takyubin to send it ahead. Everyone traveling by train/plane here seems to do this. It's a helluva lot easier than lugging bags all over the place. Seems cheap and efficient too.
