This sort of thing isn't uncommon though, according to some biology texts I've read. Women usually end up having children with guys who are likely to split on them any minute, and find somebody more "dependable" and less attractive to raise the child. I'm not assuming any blame or pre-meditaded intent on the part of the woman, but apparently there are a sizable number of fathers in this world whose kids are not genetically their own. Maybe nature intended it that way... I don't know.

It might be true that "nature" works or even intended it this way but unfortunately for this woman and everone like her, the law that governs marital status and legitimacy in almost every country on earth recognizes the responsibility of both maternal and legal parents, regardless of their marital or previous marital status at the time. The law works this way. This means that even though everyone may want to opt out of their responsibility when it suits them to do so, the law that governs will not recognize this. Enforcement is another matter, but when it comes to parental and marital responsibilities, everyone better know where they stand legally before they jump off that cliff.
