he's saying that a canadian dollar is now worth very close to 100 yen and i agree, it sucks. i have a rather large bill to pay in $c this month and i do trips with my students in the spring. i was rather used to the 15% (or better) premium that i've been getting on the yen for the last 7 years i've been here. i wouldn't mind seeing it ease up a bit. great for anyone sending money from canada i suppose.

Just transfer in small chunks. In the long run, it will average out and you wouldnt feel so bad about it.

If you're transferring from a Japanese bank to a foreign country, get ready to bend over and pay outrageous transfer fees. :?

Yeah you're right.. I stopped transfering money anymore.
The yen is weak and the whole Japanese banking is a scam.
I'll wait till the yen hits 105 and lower again to start pumping into my US account.

I've been waiting for this moment for a long time. Just had my brother send me a little nestegg I had been keeping in Canada. Even thought the rate says 1 dollar equals 100 yen you never get that rate. I got it at 97.85. But it sure beats the 65 and 75 of about 5-6 years ago.
CS do you mean from Japan to US Canada charges are high? I only paid a total of 1500 yen here and $40 in Canada.

I usually go through the post office.
it's 1000 yen for whatever amount, there is a cap though, but you just go back the next day. Think the cap is 300,000Y.

So, moving 2,000,000Y at 1000/per 300,000 comes out to almost 7000Y. (That was what I did).
