Kamakura Chamelion??

OK, has anybody been *inside* the giant Budda at Kamakura??

Anyway, when I saw it (a long time ago), there was grafitti from the 1800's all over the walls. Names of ships and crews and so forth. Has it been cleaned up?? Maybe the offenders were all executed.

Historical perspective becomes clear here. Sure, the statue is 500 years old, so what, but think about how old the *grafitti* is!!
