Nazonazo (Japanese Riddle)

Following on from the talk about the A380, I have a little nazonazo (Japanese riddle) if anyone's interested (and please excuse any spelling errors):

NB: The answer only makes sense in Japanese.

groan... It is not, I repeat, not, worth digging out your dictionary.

Take 1: "kinai de", with kinai meaning "in the plane". Hence, "because she works in the plane"

Take 2: "kinaide", the negative "-te" form of "kiru", or "to wear". Hence, "because she works without wearing clothes".

If my interpretation is right, kurohinge needs to make up for this lousy double-entendre joke by posting better naked stewardess pictures.

AO, the "ki" comes from "hikouki" or airplane. So it's a bad pun (or "dajare") on the homonym "ki" from "kiru" or "to wear".

This is great Japanese language practice. I say we make it a sticky! (As long as kurohinge can come up with one nazo-nazo per week.)

THAT is what confused me because I've never heard "kinai" associated with planes.
I've heard "kinai de hashiruna" telling my son not to run around naked after getting out the bath. (he was 2)

omae mona is right. I actually uploaded a jpg (picture id=749) of the kanji and explanation (which was working lastnight) but for some reason it has disappeared. It is now that little "batsu" box at the bottom - maybe admin or a mod can fix it???

But do you know how many flights I had to take before I could find a stewardess who would pose for that shot!

I like kamome's idea of keeping it going but I don't know that many (*sounds of much relief from many FGs*). Maybe some others know some?

Sadly, the best I can guess is:

587.87 Strawberries !
Because a strawberry (ichigo) is 15 and 8818/15 = 587.87

But Ketou already got it (without actually stating the answer). The answer is "papaya".

Why? Because "8", which in Japanese is "hachi" can be shortened to "ha", "pa" and even "ya". "1", which is "ichi", can be shortened to "i". Thus, 8818 can be read as "pa-pa-i-ya" or papaya.

Ketou's hint refers to Papaya Suzuki, the comedian.

There's a lot of dental technicians hanging around Roppongi and an extremely large portion of them also resemble particular animals found abundantly in Nara when viewed in the morning without their make up!
