What are the biggest lies foreigners tell in Japan?

I don't teach English

baby, YOU'RE the only one for me

I AM Brad Pitt

Yes, it's that big

Of course I graduated from Harvard

What? Was I suppose to pay for that?

Thanks, I'll pay you back next week

I'm difinitely outta here in six months

What are the biggest lies foreigners tell in Japan? Well it's common for foreigners to tell a few white lies here and there... to get a job, to impress a date or to simply believe in something that your not. I voted for Harvard myself.

Gomi's personal poll....

Postby GomiGirl » Tue Sep 24, 2002 12:55 pm

From a very small and biased polling sample, I conducted a similar poll a few years ago...

I found that the 3 biggest/most common lies in the world were...

1. The check is in the mail
2. I won't come in your mouth
3. I am NOT going out tonight.

Yes to remind you all that this is NOT from personal experience, rather from a polling sample only!!

I am only really guilty of number 3.

The number of times that I have said... I will only stay for a quiet drink or two and then crawled home 48 hours later with an arm covered in stamps from strange underground nightclubs and a stack of ATM receipts tracing my steps around town.

Take from it what you will.

Great to have fg back on-line!!

For those of you who couldn't read the Japanese language post above, it basically says that there are Japanese women married to foreign husbands who don't file the required notice of married status with the authorities. This allows them to pose as single women while neglecting to file the notice is not punished.

Apparently, gaijin don't hold a monopoly on lying to get some 'tang on the side.

The most common lies I've seen among military types is,

I'm getting divorced.
I'm a pilot. (used that one at a rave)
