Haafu pumpkins

so this year, like every year, i planted some real halloween pumpkins. my wife decided to plant kabocha, unfortunately adjacent to my pumpkin patch. well they couldn't keep their stamen to themselves, so i ended up with some weird looking haafu.

i've got about five or six of them, and they all look like that one with the orange pattern in the top half and then green the rest of the way down, oblong and small. i wonder if the seeds are viable.

Interesting pattern. I would have expected all orange, all green, or some shade of in between.
