Tokyo Expressway

It's not often I learn something new about Tokyo. Not because I know Tokyo particularly well, but mainly because I am illiterate and lazy. So I was delighted to find this fascinating article from our good friend the Captain. I have seen this loop of expressway overhead whenever I've been in the Ginza / Sukiyabashi area, and I've seen the loop on the Shuto Expressway maps. But I never realized that it wasn't actually part of the Shuto. It's a private (but free of charge) roadway financed by the rent of the shops below.

I've never driven it before, but now that I realize it's FREE and I'm a cheapskate, I will probably take advantage of it if I happen to be in my car in Ginza (unusual) and need to cut across the area quickly.
