You just have to find somewhere to go with very few people. It can be done.

I'm sure it can. My company makes up for no Obon by giving more paid leave that average, which is cool with me.

I think I will do something unusual, like go to the pub. I missed happy hour with the Capt'n and all last night!

1. Get stuck in long traffic
or
2. Work, and take the vacation time off some other time.

I am choosing option 2 for now.

Right now I am on the Rice Ranch in Shikoku watching the japonica oryza sativa grow.

You might want to consider camping out at the ranch a little longer. It was 40km of stack-up on the Tomei at one point this morning!

How much should you tip them? The standard 15%, or has this also been infected with the metrosexual 25% tip? If Bessie really performs her milky duties well, I could fork over a few more bills. I suppose it's too humid during the summer for the cow pies to dry and become cow chips.

Oh, that's right. No tipping in Japan.

Well how are you supposed to get any work done when your clients are pestering you? Vacation times are a great time to catch up.

My work basically is dealing with clients and I'm good about keeping up with the admin side, so I really don't have much to do.

Since it is Obon in Japan, it's quite slow over here. No one over there to give orders to anyone over here. The IT department is so quiet and I can get out of here on time.

My summer retreat.
Mr Kobayashi: First, I experienced a sort of overpowering feeling whenever I was in the room with foreigners, not to mention a powerful body odor coming from them. I don't know whether it was a sweat from the heat or a cold sweat, but I remember I was sweating whenever they were around.

No, although it was rumored that a few people were bombed on the beach last Saturday night. ]http://www.fuckedgaijin.com/forums/images/vbimghost/108246c98cd23c371.jpg[/img]

Spear fishing! Okinawan's make it a rule to not go in the water during O'bon. I think it has something to do with a fear of having deceased loved ones drag them under by their ankles or the like. This equates to no crowds. :)
