SJ,
As I have posted several times before, I DID work at Nova over ten years ago part-time for 5 months, and I STILL have NOT recovered from the experience. Although I never wore a Pikachu suit while performing a 'guts pose' and smiling, my brief employment at the afore mentioned 'company' left me in a phycological state where, I could, potentially, have done a lot worse. I am still a very mentally ill mother fucka.

Did / do you work there? If so, what was / is your state of mental health? (Pikachu suit-wearing experience irrelevant) :p

No, I never worked there. I pretty much steered clear of eikaiwa excpet for a short part time gig when I was a student at a small place with three branches in Tokyo. I quit after a few weeks so they threatened not to pay me. I quoted labor law and threatened to sue them. They paid me.

Hey, I know I'm projecting a stereotypical Bobby-Ologun-style-gaijin-buffoon image, but I've got bills to pay! I'm one of Mainichi's best assets, and they want me out there.

The FG is a weird Japanese news posting contest...like posting a photo of Hello Kitty fundoshi on a gaijin.

Posting Mainichi stuff is "unfair" since nearly all its news would automatically win the posting contest.

And, posting anything from the Pro-of-pros, Marvin-kamisama, on the FG is like posting Engrish.com material---It's cheating.

No, Taro is quite right. On top of that, since most people looking at FG have had a look at the Mainichi website a few minutes beforehand, posting one of your stories feels a bit like telling a joke in the pub that everyone already knows. There's also the problem that you have so many decent pieces that FG would risk being becoming a Mainichi clone if we posted everything that caught our eye.

On balance, though, given the choice of an Asahi, Yomiuri Mainichi or Kyodo link, the Mainichi wins out on succintness and readability. And you always link to the Japanese original of a story if there is one which is a big plus.

I hear you brother. It was one of the greatest moments of my life too. And I dont even really like soccer. I was drinking in a bar with 10000 people in blue shirts all telling me how there was no way Australia could beat the mighty samurai. Fuck I enjoyed watching those three goals slam into the back of the net while 11 Japanese stood gobsmacked on a soccer pitch trying to figure out who to blame! It was a really satisfying experience watching sooo many arrogant fucktards have the rug pulled right out from under their feet. It never felt so good to be a gaijin in all my life that night.
