Now, just wondering as us Brits with our stiff upper lips will be taking part in this - why can't Japan do something similar that doesn't involved visiting Yasakuni Shrine?
The Queen, head of state to numerous countries, visits the cenotaph every year to pay her respects to all fo those that have died, and admittedly none of those have been tried as war criminals. Why can't a Japanese PM do that?
all it would take would be for the PM is to turn around and say that he(she you never know) is honouring those that have fallen in the wars that Japan has partaken in; however, the war criminals will not be respected, but left in the Jaapnese version of limbo or hell, with Akuma from Street Fighter?!
