Traveling to Japan on a U.S. passport that will expire 4 months after departure...

I have to take the fam back to Japan at the end of February and my passport expires in June. It's only a 12 day trip, will I run into any problems? I don't want to appy for a new one right now only to have it not come in time for our trip and be without a passport.

As long as the passport is good for the entire period you are here (and you have a return ticket proving it), they shouldn't hassle you. I've done it and the guy at immigration just pointed out that it would soon be time to renew it, in case I hadn't noticed.
