Traffic in Saitama

Postby jungiandreamer » Thu May 01, 2008 9:36 am

First time poster here. Currently live in Kumamoto, so I know how and when to manage traffic (when it is bad, worse or the worst!). Am planning a move to Saitama City next year, and curious about traffic conditions. My Japanese girlfriend advises that it is busy (i.e. packed) every moment of every day. How much credence should I lend to her comments about Saitama traffic? Any advice would be great. Thanks.

Compared to Kumamoto, anything is a traffic Jam. Actually, it depends on the location. The countryside is not that bad. Saitama City itself only has a couple major thoroughfares going through the city which are usually jam packed. But after you learn the roads and since it is a sizeable city area, you can usually go around the bad spots. Hey, TIJ you're not going to find much better than you have in Kumamoto elsewhere and probably worse.
