Spring Fever???

Postby GomiGirl » Wed Jun 11, 2008 10:36 pm

Anybody else noticed a huge increase in crazy folk out and about this time of year?

Some crazy guy hit me on the bus this morning. I was about to sit in the empty seat behind him and he turned around and king hit me in the shoulder. I screamed - more out of surprise than pain - and the whole bus turned around to see what it was all about. I scurried away to another seat and a dude in a suit asked the crazy guy to apologise. The crazy guy just said "I made a mistake" and got off at the next stop.

I know this is a strange event - first time it has happened to me - but there does seem to be more crazy folk out and about.

Is this just me???

Not just you...some guy grabbed my wife by the arm a couple weeks ago and started screaming at her...and another guy in the area knocked a woman onto the train tracks intentionally about a week later. Now, the Akihabara thing...don't know what's going on in Japan.

So...yes, the wackos are out in force of late. Be vigilant.

Sounds like the asswipe didn't even offer an apology.

Unfortunately Japanese have a pathetic tendency that when they are mentally driven to the wall they attack small animals, children, women, otaku looking guys.
This dude is typical.

Nope. There's one on every train, and in every classroom.

I'm trying not to get all serious and stuff, but on Sunday night I couldn't help but think what a fucking sad state of affairs it is in Japan the way mental health issues are typically dealt with here.

Right, back to being silly again...

It is very sad, ne. I know about 20 years ago a big push happened in Australia to demystify and destigmatise mental illness. I will the same thing would happen here. Much would be gained. Sticking ones head in the sand is really not working.

Yes it's dull. Dull as the constant stupid goatfucking jokes. I was admonished that my schtick was lowering the tone of the FG board. I don't see how that's possible. So I will continue, absent any evidence that there is any serious intent to raise the tone of FG.

Given the topic and context, he could've been referring to his own mental illness.

And directly or indirectly, he was. ;)

Back on topic, I get the distinct impression that governments in many countries have gradually been spending less on mental health (in relative terms), meaning that more crazies are on the streets (and internet).

Yeah, let us examine this a bit:

1. Charles' drunken racist ozzie schtick: only appears when I can relate it to an ozzie topic, which is rare on FG. Has a political intent (even if nobody gets it but me). Mostly pisses off humorless ozzies, some people think it's funny.

2. Taro's LETS schtick: Pokes fun at Japanese topics. Always on topic. I thought it was funny.

3. Greji's Goatfucking schtick: Appears in almost EVERY GODDAM THREAD he posts in. Never on topic. Never funny. Hijacks almost every thread it appears in.

OK.. now 1 and 2 are officially banned by the FG moderators as they "spoil the tone" of this board. But not #3?

Grow up, Greji. Surely you have something better to contribute to FG.

There is a key difference that you have (unsurprisingly) totally missed:

Greiji comes across as a genuinely good guy.

You on the other hand come across as a stuck-up, annoying, know-it-all wanker.

You're asking someone to change their sexual preference? That's kind of a tall request to make, especially on a Monday.

Charles, I was all ready to give you the benefit of the doubt, and then you just had to be the first one to go off topic and mentioned Greji's goats in post#14. The whole thread was going quite well until then.

Violence against railway workers hits record
Mainichi
A record 748 cases of violent acts by train passengers against railway workers were reported in the business year of 2007, railway operators said.

Moreover, over a three year period from the business year of 2004 to 2007, the number of cases where station workers or train crewmembers were assaulted by passengers totaled 2,675, according to 21 railway operators.

The 21 organizations are three JR companies on the Honshu islands, 16 other major railway companies and the Tokyo metropolitan and Osaka municipal transportation bureaus that operate subway systems.

The finding has prompted railway operators across the country to put up about 53,000 posters at their stations, asking passengers to cooperate in preventing violent incidents.

The number of cases where passengers assaulted railway workers, which stood at 554 in the business year of 2004, rose to 708 the following year. It declined to 665 in 2006, but hit a record high of 748 in the 2007 business year.

Of the 748 cases last business year, 61 percent of the perpetrators were drunk, and the largest number of them was in their 30s, accounting for 22 percent of the total.

Most of such assaults occurred around midnight. By month, the largest number -- 91 cases -- occurred in December when many year-end parties are held.
