Being stationed in Japan?

Postby Jadic » Thu Jan 29, 2009 1:41 am

So come March I once again will be part of the US military. Previously upon entering I had many options in terms of MOS so I hope come my next enlistment this will once again be available to me. What Id like to ask is what MOS positions will most likely allow me to be stationed in Japan? Also will speaking Japanese increase the likelihood of me being selected? Previously I was enlisted as 19D. I wanted something exciting where Id be in combat. Now I feel Im getting older and no longer have time for these types of activities. I would prefer some kind of MOS in the science community. Are these needed in the Japanese bases? Id really appreciate any help. Thank you very much.

If you want to be stationed in Japan, it'd be better to be non Army.

Yeah, because that pretty much limits you to Camp Zama.. You'd be better off being a squid or jarhead... ;)

The Camp Zama marching band always performs in the St. Patrick's Day parade in Tokyo (Omotesando). Maybe they need a rapper.

After a little research I realized the army didnt offer the benefits I needed. Ive decided to enter the navy as a "NAVAL REACTORS ENGINEER" which will provide me with a bountiful supply of benefits and intellectual pursuit. Im not very sure if this MOS can have me stationed in Japan but its better for my future then the other options available. Ill do a little digging on google to see if this MOS allows for placement in Japan. My interview is set for 10 am tomorrow....

This may come across as a strange question but I want you to all consider it seriously and not let your biases effect your answer..... As youve seen in my videos I still have part of the teardrop under my left eye. Theres only a bit at the top and bottom I missed..... Do you guys think itd be better for me to finish it off tonight before I go in tomorrow?

Thank you all again

Go to an interview with:
A) A small black spot under your eye which could concievably be a mole.
or
B) Blood squirting out of you and when asked what happened have to reply `I cut an old tattoo out of my face with a razor last night.`

Too tight to call.

I'm really trying to be subjective here... If you're so worried about the tat's, I'd like to know what you're going to do about the anchor on your lip? At least with the teardrop, you could put a little bandaid or something over it and say you cut yourself shaving your eyebrows or something, but with the lip... I can't see how it would *help* your chances, but can see how it would severely hurt your chances... After all, the military aren't looking too good on their rep, and the Japanese are very conservative compared to the rest... I can't see how the Navy would CHOOSE to have someone rep them out there who's all tat'd up on his face..

That's JMHO....

My reasoning is Id lie about the scab/scar under my eye. The anchor doesnt matter too much as it doesnt represent anything offensive. The policy is if the tattoo is gang related or could otherwise be translated as offensive then they wont let you enter. The anchor is simply in reference to me being a fisher so wont be seen as too disruptive. The teardrop has a far worse connotation. If I were to cut out the remainder of the tattoo tonight Id tell the recruiter I simple fell off a bike recently and that it hasnt completely healed yet. The visible scar tissue with the scab tissue would give it the look it was alot worse and this was simply the final stages of its healing. Atleast this is my reasoning. It definitely wouldnt be seen as a mole the way it is now... most people dont have dark blue moles. overtop tear shaped scars

So did you get the tear because you were in a gang?

No Ive never been in a gang. Shit happened and I was young and stupid and felt I had to broadcast it to the world. I was lucky enough to never face repercussion from the incident but I punished myself pretty badly with this stupid fucking tattoo. Luckily its gone now. I made a video of me finishing it off and will upload once its complied.

Mods, how about any further posts or threads pertaining in any way shape or form to Jadic be put in the 'Beyond Fucked' section? Seriously.

I didnt derail the thread intently and I made an appropriate thread for that subject in beyond. This thread is perfectly fine for this section.

Yup, but you have to wear green and smoke shamrocks. I doubt seriously if there will be many 19D slots in Zama. Probably more 11Bang bangs, considering he want have the rank for the other assignments.

So after talking to some recruiters today Ive found theres no way possible to waive the tattoo on my lip. My only choice now is to have it removed. Very simply the military is a means to an end. I really want to attend college for physics and chemistry along with a few other more specific fields. Theres things in my life I have to accomplish and the military is the only way I see to complete them reasonably.
