Ooooops...

Postby Catoneinutica » Sat May 23, 2009 3:09 pm

Got back from Toronomon, went to find my crappy old mama-chari (crappy but expensive because it's a 28-incher), searched the alley near the station where I usually park it, and it was nowhere to be found. Spent about 10 minutes searching, gave up, and walked, seething, over to the nearby koban. Walked in and gave the half-dozen Keystones hell, saying I'd had maybe ten bicycles stolen over the years, and declared that the bike was probably already on its way to N. Korea. A policeman said that was unlikely, and I said, oh, it's very likely! There are a lot of pachinko parlors around the station, and many, if not most, of them are run by zainichi N. Koreans, and that was something the Keystones knew all about because they have ties with the pachinko industry.

Anyway, after I, uh, "vented," they took down my name, address, DL and Gaijin Card numbers, and I said I'd come back later with my bicycle license info. Then I went home, and later that evening took the dog for a walk. Went all around the station, and lo and behold, there was my bicycle at the opposite end of the alley, about 200 meters away from where I'd left it earlier. So I walked back over to the koban and said, looks like my bike showed up; sorry about getting angry earlier.

Hmm...now I worry that I've got some negative Keystone Karma coming my way. Better walk the line and not jaywalk or deface any Usui campaign posters.

simple, a cop "borrowed" it after a night out..... this was after he ran the reg number and found out that a gaijin owned it.

catone, you WILL be stopped by the coppers no less than five times a month for the next year and a half.

Naaah.
I reported my Benz was stolen and that wasted a good 200 hours of police time looking for it.
After a week, I finally thought to check if I parked it (illegally) Yokohama's Center Minamistation rather than Center Kita station.

Yep.

It was my Alzheimer's Moment.

All the cops laughed and they thought the PhD baka gaijin spending hours explaining it all in bizarre Japanese (grammar like a 5-year old, vocabulary like an educated adult) was their best entertainment of the year.
