Tattoos and Onsens

Postby John Dillinger » Tue Jun 09, 2009 4:18 pm

What's up folks? How've you all been?

Yours truly after saying for years he was one day going to get a tattoo, finally did it.

Now, I know some public baths and onsens won't allow people with tattoos because they're associated with Yakuza, but it's fairly small and right above my inside left ankle. Do you guys think that I might get turned away from a lot of places, or do you think most will not make a big deal out of it, and let me in?

For a reference, here it is:

Well, checking out your ink, I see that you are either a Light Weight Veterinarian, or a Bloody Monster....

However, the catch phrase is "tattoo" and most places will not let you in if they see your ink! Judging by the size, you can probably slam a piece of tape like a big band-aid over it and not have any problems. You might be able to go in au jus, but the problem comes if they see it, or if somebody just wants to report up on a fg. Then they will be forced to ask you to leave. Technically, any ink is forbidden, but actually, a lot of places play it by ear. I know somebody with a gay dragon all up and down her back who can charm them into letting her in, so it is a place by place deal!

And she's asked that you stop doing that!

Monster is the right answer. I got the two kanji for Kaiju, since I've had a love of Toho monsters since I was a kid.

Just to make sure I got the right symbols, I checked and rechecked a couple of kanji dictionaries. The stencil they used was made from a scan I did straight out of Spahn and Hadamitsky's Kanji and Kana

Who asked me? Are you talking about the school marm, or the lizard in loafers?
