Bangkok Post: 'How I was tricked into becoming a sex slave in Japan'
After refusing to cooperate with the police three times, a victim of transnational sex trafficking has told how she was lured into prostitution in Japan by a teacher. The woman, whose name has been withheld, provided police with enough evidence to arrest and charge Jirapat Ramlee, 53, a senior teacher at Nong Bua Wittayayon School in Nong Bua Lam Phu province, with human trafficking and the detention of a person against their will...A month earlier, the woman had dreamed of working in an upmarket Japanese restaurant, a promise allegedly made by Ms Jirapat. The woman believed her as Ms Jirapat was a teacher and she travelled with her to Japan, according to Interpol. The two arrived in Tokyo on Nov 13 last year. But instead of taking the victim to a restaurant, the teacher allegedly took her to a brothel and sold her for 700,000 baht. The victim was then told she would have to work off a debt of 1.3 million baht if she wanted to leave and was given just a few hundred baht a day to live on.
