Shisha/Hooka import

Postby Zeth3D » Thu Mar 29, 2012 6:46 pm

Hey yall, quick question:

Any idea how they would handle at customs if I got myself a hooka and some shisha mailed to me?
(For those that dont know what it is, its tobacco)
The amount of tobacco i think is maybe like 200g that came included with a new hooka purchase, I bought a mini one to have for the home.

Will they need to bill me somehow since we're dealing with tobacco? Is there some limit they have that if I stay under they wont charge customs fees or whatever?

The supplier I bought it from is based in Texas.

Reminds me of the true story of the Brit who smuggled tobacco in his van from Belgium, and when confronted by customs, he said in British fashion that it was for his horse. He reportedly told them that his horse had many skin ulcers, and he tried to cure them by putting some tobacco-based broth on them. Anyway, he still had to pay his duties plus a fine. :)

I brought both in through hand-carry luggage and paid no duties...20 years ago.
Duties on tobacco are payable on 250g, I believe, so you should be OK, but don't quote me on that.

Just to update in case anyone was interested:

I received everything pretty quick and didnt have any extra charges or anything. So i guess about 250g worth of tabaco is fine through customs?

250g aint alot really, so now i gotta find somewhere to get more...
