anime-like MSNBC newsreporter

Postby were_spider » Sat Mar 22, 2003 7:07 pm

With all the news coverage, lots of never before seen newscasters are coming out of the wood work... but this one, fortunately, is quite easy on the eyes... :P

http://www.msnbc.com/news/565486.asp the first thing i noticed is her resemblance to an Anime character... aparently somebody else thought about it too..

http://blackholebrain.editthispage.com/2002/01/04

lates,
Werespider

ps, if anybody has seen her on tv, you'll instantly know what i'm talking about.
pps. if anybody can find a good pic of her, pls post the url....

I saw her on TV today.

In real life she is really cute, even if she is a bit long in the tooth.

Her hair is longer now too.

Is your description of the suitable age/useby date of the anchor on network TV applied to all the anchors? Or just half of them?

GG, its a common expression to illustrate that a person is not young.

Why did this strike such a dissonant chord with you?

Are you getting long in the tooth?

Actually no - but I will be one day and so will you..

Why did it strike a chord? Perhaps it is not intentional on your part - just social conditioning, but perhaps you don't realise how frustrating it is that there is double standards applied everywhere - especially in the media - which is the litmus test to attitudes in the general population.

Really I don't want to fight but these types of comments bug me as it suggests that she shouldn't still be on TV even though she is still cute at such a ripe old age.. who cares how old or cute she is if she does her job well??? Anchors are not there for mere eye candy - they are supposed to employed because they can handle the pressure of live coverage etc.. if they are clean and well presented that is all that should matter. Same goes for the male anchors. now weather girls/guys are a different story..

Yeah, but it's a bonus if they're hot! :D

What about naked?

http://www.nakednews.com

They have male anchors just for you, GG. Sorry, none over 50 though.

Personally, I think older women are sexy.. I objectify them about as much as young ones. Balance is good.. Just ask Buddha.

She looks good for her age. Basically.

As for you GG? You read WAY WAY too much into my statement.

She's cute despite her age. Whats the big deal? Dunno.

I just live here.

Yes but as Ultra mentioned, it is a bit of a backhanded compliment...

"Your hair transplant looks better!!"
"The extra pounds suit you"
"You are not as small as your last girlfriend told me you were!!"

People do get a bit sensitive about getting/looking older so just bringing it up is problematic as youth is more desirable in modern society and old=ugly. Why not say simply - "she is cute in real life" and leave it at that?

Sure this is way too much explanation, but you wanted to know why I made the original comment..

GG,

I love ya darlin, I really do,

But WHY did this strike such a dissonant chord with you and why did you take it so personal because it was no attack on your person.

Are you OK?
