So after a bunch of pointless talk, they finally agreed with me that they could simply lower it on a rope to the top of their truck and then down from there. Then the guy who was in charge basically said they can't do it that night because it's against their rules and "dangerous" to do something like that when it's dark out. WTF?? The whole area is lit up! I'm done trying to push them so I give in and let them reschedule for today. On the way back to the apartment a sec ago and I get a frantic call, it's Kuroneko and they are "terribly sorry" they can't do it today due to this "typhoon"This slight mist?!!

Are they always such pussys? if I had some tie straps or a decent rope, I'd do it myself, in front of them but TIJ and the straps/rope probably cost more than it does to just wait for their 3rd attempt. Fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu

They refused to even look at it until the drum was locked down... A part that is designed to wiggle around and spin full of water and wet laundry...
Insane...

Well... For a start... The laundry...
Then, also the fact that I usually prefer to be a one man army around the house... Prepper shit and stuff...
Me julie tend to assume she will always be able to call Jaf whenever she might have a flat or get stuck in the snow... I tend to assume that the day I'm in trouble everyone in a 50km radius will be dead then undead trying to eat me and all the road carpet bombed into oblivion.

In such a situation doing your laundry is probably not your first priority, methinks...

Acksherlly my washing machine (front-loader) suddenly became incontinent a while back; by the way the water was coming out it was obvious some pipe connection had severed. Called an officially sanctioned repair person, who came along, took the back off, and asked if we'd fastened/secured the drum before it was moved. Which I hadn't, of course, as I wasn't aware of the need for or existence of such a thing.
So I'm going to go out on a limb here and say it's highly possible that damage-from-unsecured-washing-machine-drums is not an infrequent occurrence in the removal industry so they are covering their posteriors from クレーム.
But "typhoon" - yeah, bullshit.

Weird thing is I bought this bitch new, moved it twice since then without touching the area where the bolt is supposed to be....only to now find out they are missing?yanpa wrote:Are you moving to the temple?
Yes and no. The plan was to move there friday....but my workload has literally tripled in the past 2 weeks so that didn't happen. Even with my move to Niigata, I need a place in Tokyo for work and the issue was still undecided. I was frantically trying to figure out what to do as I was supposed to be out of my current place soon (and in Niigata...with a month or so to plan) and yet found myself stuck in Tokyo longer with work obligations....just then IPU let me know "it's time" (we'd previously talked about him escaping his temporary housing situation) so we rescued all his stuff and the current lemur lair has been split up into two dungeons. Not sure if we'll stay here or move to another place but couldn't have been better timing and is a pretty good solution for both of us for now. (Hence the "domestic partnership" joke above)

I suppose I could if I had copious amounts of free time and possibly access to appropriate spare parts. Until that happens, I'll continue to practice division of labour.

Plus prices for repairs are pretty reasonable. I had to replace the motor in my front-loading washer/drier about a year ago. Parts and labor only cost me about 13,000 yen and it took the guy 20 mins tops. The only "inconvenience" was having to be home for a 2-hour window to let him in.

I bought a new/second hand washer from somebody recently. (Long story but I have a second apartment currently for rent via AirBNB), The only issue is that this washer also has a mildew like smell about it. Should I run a load with bleach in it?
Or what do others suggest?
