Year End House Cleaning

Postby J.A.F.O » Wed Dec 31, 2014 4:57 pm

Is anyone else's S.O. going batshit crazy about cleaning their house before New Years?

The wife is miffed because I said I wasn't gonna jump through flaming hoops to make sure there isn't any dust hiding behind some forgotten corner of a closet that we never use.

Isn't this originally a Chinese thing anyways?

I remember that shit when I spent new years at an ex's place...maybe it was just her family but that annual cleaning never seemed to rid the place of all the useless junk they had accumulated...just made sure it was dust free. Glad I'm hiding away in the US this year.

Of course. I busied myself with taking down Christmas stuff and packing it away which was mostly away from the living/bed areas which saw the full onslaught. Did she insist on fully opening every single window in the house in order to magically banish the dust? The entire house was like a refrigerator by 4pm. At least it was pretty warm this New Year's Eve.
It is a tale told by an idiot, full of sound and fury, signifying nothing.

Enjoy your visit man. I'm heading back in February. It'll be good to be home ... I think.

That's a good idea. All I could come up with was shopping for dinner ... on the other side of the island ... which took 3 hrs.

I was thinking of shooting the line about it being a chinese tradition (because she hates the chinese, well the ones in china anyways) I don't figure it'll do much good though. The mom in law like me because I fix stuff for her but damn that generation is weird.

Same here, plus I'm her dealer for toyu and white tchokluts...
But I feel safer having her around, cause in case of accident I know me julie will just keep watching TV while Mominlaw will at least call a taxi.

Been there done that, came home from a bicycle crash against a streetlight... -don't ask- broken ankle, took Julie 3 weeks to drop me at the hospital emergency (1 floor below her lab/desk back then.) Still painfull on bad weather day. Longest 3 weeks ever, since at first i was barely able to crawl on the floor the Tortie cat decided it was the time or never to try to kill me and take the top of the food chain... Not an exaggeration BTW she was going claws out for my throat. Had to call the french vet to send me tranquilizers... Even dosed like for a horse she was going for the kill pupils dilated worse than Snoop Dogg

I clean the mozzie screens & take the kids to the park and the wife does the rest, like nengajo, osoji is a Japanese custom I avoid as much as possible.
