ANA uniforms go missing after TV ad shoot

Twelve uniforms of All Nippon Airways (ANA), one of Japan's two largest airlines, were lost last month after the filming of a TV commercial, company officials said.

ANA severely reprimanded two section chiefs in its business promotion department responsible for the commercial, while lodging a complaint over the incident with Dentsu Inc., the major advertising agency that the airline commissioned to produce the commercial.

ANA is set to report the incident to the Metropolitan Police Department, fearing that the uniforms may be used to enter off-limit zones at airports. The airline has decided not to air the commercial for now.

Dentsu has expressed its apologies over the incident. "Only two staff members collected the uniforms. It was sloppy practice."...more...

Female airport worker auctions JAL clothing online

A woman who worked for a Japan Airlines (JAL) affiliate was arrested for auctioning JAL work clothing on an Internet site, police said.

Yasuko Omura, 25, from Tokyo's Arakawa-ku, has admitted to the allegations.

"I wanted to make money. I am sorry," she told officers.

Omura was an employee of JAL Business, a job placement firm, and was dispatched from the company late last year to another JAL group company, JAL Sky Tokyo that serves JAL flight customers at Tokyo's Haneda Airport.

JAL Sky Tokyo lent Omura a work uniform comprising four jackets, four skirts, six blouses and two scarves....more...
