It did fill in a few holes, but "tsumarana mono desu ga?" My gift is boring? Who says that? Or did I miss hear?

I didn't know you could slide your hands down to your knees on a deep bow, that made my bow much smoother, it's important to me to be a really "kawaii no gaijin."

No, you didn't mishear. Only once I've heard that said to me when I was given a gift. Basically, it's an attempt to be humble.
