Well. No. I am not trying to TROLL...I am not even sure what that means. However, just last week....I have noticed that alot of Japanese men seem to attack foreigners for speaking their minds.

They just seem to feel that they have to attack foreigners to make themselves feel better.

Wow. This site seems to be an area of attack than debate.

Did I miss something when I signed up? What is this site about if not to discuss issues?

It may have something to do with how you're phrasing your questions and the nature of your topics. They seem to have a general "anti-Japan" sentiment or come off as overly critical of Japan. You can say the same things - and still communicate your point - with better chosen words.

This isn't a call for political correctness either. But if you're going to ask the question "Do Japanese males feel less of a man next to a Foreigner?" you may want to back it up with at least anecdotal evidence or a personal experience you've had relating to it.

If you restrict your queries to Japanese men who are 180+cm, I'll wager you'll see a very steep decline in the number of "yes, I feel inferior" votes. The rest of us short, not-Japanese men can always take comfort from the adventures of mighty midgets like Napolean and Nelson.

I don't know there dude, I've met plenty of japanese guys in japan who looked at my big over 6 feet tall ass and totally looked like they had no problem taking me on. never happened, but I give'em points for machismo. so, my answer is, no. I think it's their country, first and foremost, and you have to look at everything through that lens before you take any assumptions or observations too far. Repeat, it is their country. many gaijins forget this and start thinking american rules are supposed to apply or something. nope. it's japan. I've even had a really short aggressive japanese dude tell me at one club, "this is japan! not america! these are our rules!" yeah, I was ready to crack his head, but later I thought about it and, you know, I had to admit, he was right.

Sure, Japanese rules apply. And if you want to accomplish something, playing by those rules is the best, and often only, way to do it in Japan. But just remember that we gaijin can never be in the in-crowd and in that sense, the "Japanese Way" does not apply to us. It wouldn't be proper to apply to us the same standards that Japanese must play by because we have no opportunity to receive the same benefits of playing the game that way that the Japanese do.

So do your own thing.

As for Japanese men having an inferiority complex, sure, they are small and this often leads to a kind of complex, but heck, I think the whole damn country suffers from a kind of inferiority complex or lack of acceptance for what Japan is and what it can and can't be on the international scene. As for Japanese guys having problems with foreign guys, maybe the ones you are meeting play the role of "yes men" all day long and confronting a foreigner is the only situation in which they are allowed to step outside of their lowly rank in society and treat someone like their slave for a change. But if that is the sort of Japanese man you are encountering, I suggest hang out at a different place 'cause none of my friends are like that.

If "less of a man" means insecure:

I think any man who is insecure regardless of their nationality will feel less of a man (insecure) when they are around other men of any nationality.

Whether Japanese men feel insecure around other foreign men, depends on that individual.

My experience is this, most Japanese men act normal around me, unless they are insecure, and then you can tell that very quickly... usually by their hands shaking, or their inability to communicate when I am around.

But the vast majority of Japanese men I talk to, depending on if it is in English or Japanese, are not "less of a man". In English they seem more nervous, but that is just a result of them speaking in a foreign language. I feel the same way when I communicate in Japanese.

Fuck I just came here this morning and saw my triple post, Its fucking huge. I know why this site slows down sometimes lol... Really I noticed when people are posting a lot of image links the database gets stressed then everybody starts pressing the submit button = double posts. Acualy more like 6 or 7 if you just press twice its hard to get the server to register it as two posts as the database will have a lock for that you have to press a good few times.

I find that most men do not have such inferiority complex. They are too proud to feel inferior. The ones with personal insecurities about gaijin usually have other insecurities as well that apply uniformly and can't be blamed on some gaijin complex.

I can see what 'Shibuya Me' is trying to get at, although he could not articulate this. Japanese men are less masculine than some (many) other ethnic groups. There is less testosterone flowing through the Japanese gene pool than say, the Greek gene pool. No, I'm not Greek.

A result of less testosterone in a gene pool is more attractive, feminine faces in the Japanese women, and less manly faces in the Japanese men.

On the flip side, in a gene pool that has extra testosterone such as the Greek gene pool, you get more attractive, masculine looking men, and ALSO more manly looking women too! Hey, I have been to Greece, this is true. I have seen women there with monobrows etc, no joke. Not to say there are aren't attractive women there too though.

The relative femininity of Japanese men is also reflected in their small jaws, lack of body and facial hair relative to other cultures and smaller muscle mass-a clear indicator of less testosterone in the system. Another indicator is the lack of jaw size in both male and female Japanese, creating the famous crowded-teeth in the Japanese mouth.

However, benefits of less testosterone in a gene pool include the theory that this creates for a less violent society.

I have seen heaps of taches and beards around.. they are different but I didn't put it down to racial hormone levels, rather genetic differences... but then I haven't studied it that much...

Well I can see why people might be surprised at this science. It just isn't fashionable to talk about. People don't like to emphasis differences of culture, religion, opinion, let alone ethnic physiological differences. But of course they are there before our eyes. People just don't like to talk about them that's all.

In the 1960s, the growth of 'social sciences', especially sociology became the big 'explanation' of difference in people. It has great value, but cannot explain everything. Science is finding more and more genetic difference between different groups of people. But it makes some people uncomfortable, so they wish it would just go away. I think it is really interesting.

Example, black people (Africans) are more physiologically diverse gene wise than the ethnic differences between Europeans. There is a huge range of gene based difference within black Africa itself. Then there is the rest of the world to look at, it is amazing stuff. Bone density, limb length, disease susceptibility etc, all has genetic causes.

Your main point earlier, though, was that Japanese have a lower testosterone level than westerners, if I understood correctly. Where did you get this information? I couldn't find it in any of the sources you posted. From your message it almost sounded like you were attempting to measure people's testosterone levels just by looking at them! Even one of the articles you posted reminds us

So I'm sure after seeing those thorough articles you're not attempting to deduce testosterone levels via visual inspection of somebody's face and body, right? If that worked, why are all these researchers bothering with science?
