Planning a Trip

Postby ScottishAndProud » Tue Mar 16, 2004 7:43 am

As you can see from my username I am from Scotland and in the process of planning a trip to Tokyo, somewhere I have always wanted to visit. I will freely admit I don't even have a slim grasp of the language but just wanted to ask some advice as to how westerners (even Scottish) are treated?

I keep reading stuff along the lines that westerners are still not trusted but I want to sample as much as I can when over there.

Any advice is much appreciated and also where to go without doing too much of the "tourist" thing.

Are you talking about 5 or fewer days? Or are you planning to hit a Gaijin House and flop for weeks till your money runs out? More importantly, are you boozehound, poonhound, or one those bunka-baka geeks?

As a tourist, you'll have no worries about how westerners (even Scottish) are treated. As a busker living in giaijin flophouse you'll start to "enjoy" Japanese hospitality as your money runs out. If you're really a cute and charming harmless fellow, you could start providing the Japanese "hospitality" working in host bar. :P [/b]
