Rape Crisis Support in Japan

Kind of a downer topic, but I have a friend that has a friend in need:

Long story short: She's Japanese, house broken into, family bound and gagged, she raped while blindfolded..

I don't want to give too many details as this crime is still fairly recent. Of course, the cops said forget about it and recommended not telling anyone.

I think they offered some counselling info, but TIJ; the cop probably had her sit on his lap while she gave him the details, then dubbed that as counselling...

Anywaaay, can anyone recommend some rape counselling contacts?

Binding with wire rather than rope or duct tape is the M.O. of a rape gang in NE Kanagawa.

No, not in our area.. Sorry, but I don't want to give too much information as rape is really personal.. It was with duct tape, from what I know..

The "Wire Guys" in our hood have been operation for more than 5 years but they aren't into home invasion. Although never reported to the press, forest rapes around this time of year happen during the takenoko gathering season. The "idea" is than the wire used for concrete forms is untrackable unlike rope and wire doesn't retain fiber and bio evidence like duct tape. The stories I've heard from ER nurse here are horrific.

This is horrifying and sobering because I think many of us (certainly myself) assume that Japan has practically no crime, when, of course, there is crime, but much less so than in other nations.

I assume that dna evidence was kept from the attackers. Why worry about wire vs. tape when there is often a lot more evidence left at the scene of a rape?

Sometimes, I feel this country 'assumes' itself into paralysis.. You'd assume a country that can make a female baby rat from two other female rat's DNA would use DNA as evidence in a crime.. But then, you'd also assume a country with GPS mobile phones would have basic central heating and insulation..

OK. Rant over.. Thank you all for the help. This story has been disturbing me for a few days now. The details keep me up at night.. Actually, maybe it's the anger..

If the Nick Baker case is any indication, this country is a lot better at suppressing evidence than using it to solve a crime, bringing a real criminal to justice, or exonerating an innocent individual.
