so, to all those who are immersed...
how has your english been faring. not writen, but spoken (when you get the chance).
as for me, it has been dying a strange death, and im not yet in japan. there is inversion where it should not be, and my copula is becoming odd. i have been transcribing for 2 days conversation that i recorded for a class. All english conversation with some non-native speakers who are intermediate level english. hearing my own voice for hours on end is bad enough... having to transcribe crap that i said is worse. i compared this recording to an earlier recording of myself, and threw it through some spectral analysis. my vowels have shifted a little higher, and some places of articulation have changed a little too. specifically my laterals.
my dreams are more in japanese than they are in english. and my native judgements are impaired for some reason... i am no longer really reliable for analyzing what is proper english linguistically. apparaently, this is possible in a psycholinguistic scope... biggest worry right now is that i will come back in 16 months and they will stick me in an ESL class :P
