Children are not bound by adult concepts such as amae (one's learned dependence on society's tolerance and kindness). Similarly, the terms enryo (humble consideration of others) and giri (repaying debts from a sense of loyalty) are all beyond a child's comprehension...

yeah but certainly by high school they should have outgrown this "iya da, muri, akan, etc..." baby jibber jabber...

But they haven't.. hell I have seen "grown" women act like this... like little babies...

It makes me sick.

Here's a trick: keep your kid off processed sugar for a few days, and watch their behavior return to normal.

What do you expect them to do when you keep dumping nitro in the gas tank? They're redlining, and the parents don't even know it. :wink:

I'm amazed

How parents can just sit and watch as their kids will not listen and just do the iyada thing right in front of them. I would love to hall of and give them a good whack on the backside, but can't since Mom is sitting in the same room. I know for sure if it were my child, they would be pulled out of the room pretty damn quick and would get a good dressing down.
It seems that in Japan the two groups with unlimited freedom are children under the age of 6, and grandparents over the age of 65.
