This is truly stupid. But how do I persuade one of those 7-11 girls to give me her work jacket (or sell me one)?

For some screwy reason I like the burgundy and salmon colored light coat they wear. I want one. God knows why.

They trade in used uniforms: schoolgirl, OL, etc. That's what I read, anyway. Now where was that post? From, Sake drenched postcards, I think.

Used gym shorts fetch 4,000 yen and the much sought-after sailor uniforms, including scarf and tag bearing the school's name, over twenty times that. Stewardess, nurse, and office lady uniforms are also available for even larger sums.

Hey, how about one of my old company uniforms?
I've got dozens here in all sorts of vomit colors. The girls uniform even has a pink bow tie that would suit Rob Pongi fine.

Actually, 7-11 "fashion" isn't that much different from those guys who go for gas station mechanic "fashion" a la Philips 76, etc.

Ok. Japanese company uniforms are changed every 2 years (fully depreciated after 1 year). The old uniforms must go back but employees who quit or join just when the uniforms are exchanged. Spare uniforms "disappear" then.

It's a question of timing (since nobody is gonna give their uniform that is being used and must be fully accounted for)......unless you can find somebdy that walked off the job (rare, because Japanese slave labor regs require you to get a "release from the company" form to present to your next employer).

I would love to have a 7-11 (or any other konbini) uniform just to wear it for a day and do a tour of 20 or so 7-11's with a button cam to record the reactions of the staff. Maybe I could stoop down and start helping the guy putting bread on the shelves. :lol:

YES! That would be a fun/foon 7-11 tour.

When going on shucho/biz-trips to other offices of Maybe-the-Largest Inc., I loved to put on the my early 80s, Meiwa Denki-esque uniform with billed cap.

Sheeeeee-it, did I get looks when I walked in the door. :P

Seriously, all you guys jonesin' to work in a konbini- they will hire just about anyone (who can work legally). I had gaijin friends who worked there and were probably hired for the novelty factor. Get to work and you'll get your uniform!

I have to say this is one of the stranger posts I've seen on FG. I'm not condenming it, just why would you want to wear a convenience store unifrom.
