Do any of you have a good idea of the proper timing to buy Google stock? Five months after its IPO?

Google, the Web's No. 1 search engine, today said it would close bidder registration for its auction-style $3.3 billion initial public offering in two days....

Don't bother. Google is nothing but a brand name... all of their product is coming under fire from all sources and it's only a matter of time before they get replaced. How many search engines afre there? Google is getting spammed with commercial crap as everyone focuses on them... me? I use Mamma and Overture to balance the google S.E.O. (search engine optimization). And what else do they have? Blogger? Bah, MT or a host of others are just as good if not better. GMail? Don't need it. Got Yahoo (with 100mb which is plenty).... hmmmm, wasn't Yahoo like in the same position just 8 years ago... #1 search engine, mail, portal... and now? So do you really want to value Google as much as Yahoo (as their IPO will) and more than GE, GM, Toyota, etc.?
If this were 6 years ago (I know, the boom....) and Google was a much smaller company with room to grow then maybe I'd consider it... but where will Google grow and what products do they have with a significant barrier of entry in place to defend themselves?

Ah, the little Lithuanian orphans* own too much in oil services and leases now. As much as Daddy Warbucks and the kids hate Sony for going from Hero-to-Zero...the little orphans were intrigued by this contrarian view of Sony, Japan's-best-company-gone-bad:

Toronto Star, Canada - Aug 8, 2004... is growing, or you buy because the stock is cheap ... They may buy time by turning to acquisitions or new lines ... growth or income investor might dismiss Sony Corp.'s ...
