You know I always wondered why those guys seemed so out for blood, I thought they were all just working off a hang over like me :)

If there anything like aussie truckers, they probably are fucked up on speed trying to get themselves through 18 hours of constant driving to get there load delivered on time for bonus.

Once you get the hang of riding in Tokyo, hop over the Sea of Japan for something a bit more challenging - Seoul.

The trick to suriviving hellish traffic on a motorcycle is to have the right music playing in your head while you ride. Suggested tunes:

Juno Reactor/Don Davis - Mona Lisa Overdrive (the song from the freeway sequence of Matrix Reloaded)
Antrhax & Chuck D - Bring the Noise
E-Type - Campione
Foo Fighters - Everlong
Andy Hunter - Go
Overseer - Supermoves (Animatrix mix)
DJ Peran - We Want to Be Free
Lords of Acid - Young Boys
Bubbles - Bidibodi Bidibu (You may not associate this with high-speed driving/riding if you haven't seen Super Troopers.)

Damn, screw a mountain bike - I want another motorcycle! :D

Not wrong!
I rode a pushy from pusan up the coast years back. I thought traffic in Japan was insane, but after riding in Korea I couldn't wait to get back to the sedate roadways of Japan.

When riding I pretty much only listen to NIN... it always makes me want to kill something
Its funny cause its the only time I listen to it... something morbidly hypnotic about it, I get in the right zone to pull crazy ass sh$t

"SUS" this out!

Since you were considering spending 140,000yen for a full-SUS* bicycle, you might as well get a scooter.

*It took me a a long while to figure out that SUS written on the sides of many Japanese trucks was referring to suspension (as though having a SUS was something unique or special).

I'll have to get a J-license first (I let my US one lapse while I was in Korea), so it's likely to be just a mtn. bike for now. :(

[quote="krimebot"]I think the taxis are the bishops]

Tokyo taxi drivers are some of the lowest forms of life on the planet. They will indeed run your ass over chasing a fare. Then trample on your corpse once more pulling away from the curb. They are heartless.

One aspect overlooked are the salarymen and obasans. These folks are lost in their own little world. Couldn't give a shit about anyone or anything, drifting into intersections, weaving on the sidewalks. Thoughts focused on who knows what - bargain shopping, their next cigarrette? And how many times have I almost been clubbed by one of the construction guys with light batons? Yikes.

Only one accident so far. It was a big one though. Had a car door open in front of me, I got pitched about 12 feet over the handlebars. The bicycle was trashed but I came away with only a few cuts. The landing area was smooth brick. Gloves helped as well.

krimebot,

head over to GaijinRiders
http://www.gaijinriders.com/

AND

Tokyo_Riders
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Tokyo_Riders/

For two nice communities of motorcyclists in Japan.

There is overlap between the two but they are distinct groups.

I just registered on both those sites (well i'm waiting for Tokyo Riders to approve me), and I checked out your site hoping to see a pic of ur SV but a quick scan revealed nothing, of course with a site as huge as yours thats not suprising !
HEre is my baby, you can find me cutting through traffic at an alarming rate.

/me pours a little beer to the ground for the 91' Gsx-R 750 I USED to HAVE before it got Jacked by El Banditos in the City of Long Beach..
:shake:

Man, riding here just has to be nuts.
I've had my fair share, and even hit and flew over a honda civic (a hit and run BTW), but no way in hell I'd ride a S-Sport here. -Not unless there are good deals on track days at Suzuka, but no street.

Ketou,
You are right, I shipped it to Japan... I'm sure it wasn't worth the insane cost and headache... I'll be sure to add a nice picture of her in a highly Tokyo area.

Tonikoro,
Well you know its only the 750 SS, so I'd get my butt kicked by the GSXR 750's (moment of silence), so track days is out... but now I have tokyo for a track. Riding here is not really that insane... any more, altough now I am interested to try korea, but a little afraid too.
