Next territorial dispute?

Postby dimwit » Mon Nov 15, 2004 11:09 pm

I am staring at my 100 yen map of the world and I noticed something weird. Of course, like all maps they show the South Kuriles Aka. 'the Northern Territories' as part of Japan. But they also show disputed territories in white, such as Kashmir and the Western Sahara. BUT they have marked southern Sakhalin Island is marked in white as well. As far as I know the Japanese government has no claim on the Southern Sakhalin so what is the right wing nuthatch justification for this? Anyone got a clue?

The website given by on the map is

http://www.makoto-ltd.co.jp

But I honestly can't make heads or tails of the website. :?

And in Jesusland, Jesus shall rule by strict Biblical dictum, and homosexuals and Gypsies will be smited with the just and steely blade of abounding rightwing righteousness!

It looks like it's a 100 yen shop that specializes in crafts goods. don't ask me why they have a picture from San Francisco (?) on their main page...

No they aren't. But nortern Assam, where there is a legitimate border dispute between China and India, is. I have also seen this on other maps where there is a line demarking the northern and southern boundary of the Sakhalins.

Oh! I should add that the Northern Kurile Islands are also marked in white.
