"This result provides genetic evidence that marijuana use can result in schizophrenia or a significantly increased risk of schizophrenia," lead researcher Hiroshi Ujike, a clinical psychiatrist at Okayama University, told United Press International

Not exactly... I had to read this a couple of times to figure out what he's really saying:

"People already predisposed to Schizophrenia can accelerate their fall into illness by using marijuana. Those without the gene only suffer temporary effects"

As with all research, I'd like to know who funded this one... JT maybe?

I was once put on the spot at University by my math professor who noted I was 'distracted' (read 'high as a kite') during his discussion of a rather long blown formula. Eventually he had the ensuing conversation framed and placed over the entrance to his lecture hall.

Q. 'So young Bildermann what does this prove'

Ujike stressed there is no evidence yet these genetic abnormalities can affect how the marijuana receptor actually acts in the brain. "We would also like to replicate our findings with different ethnic populations and more people," he added.
