Japanese recreate Bataan death march

...with Penguins.

Japanese Get Fat Penguins to Exercise

The penguins have tender webbed feet and can only walk significant distances on snow, so the program can only take place during the colder months.

The zoo, on the northern island of Hokkaido, takes the penguins on strolls from December until April. The first walk of the season was Thursday.

ha.. sounds like my exercise program. I hate exercising in hot weather, so I've been jogging every day for the last 6 weeks, even in freezing temps and driving snow. It's been really cold this week (as low as -11F) and sometimes I think I burn more calories trying to maintain body temp than I do jogging. I didn't lose a single pound for the first 5 weeks. Then I lost 5 pounds just this week.

No, I moved from LA back to my home town in Iowa a few years ago, but I'm currently planning a move back to California.
