F*cked Subway Passengers

Postby DrP » Tue Feb 07, 2006 1:51 pm

Today as I was exiting the train we were immediately halted and hurried another exit by the fire dept. I was ready to grab a plastic bag from the trash and start survival breathing! Anyways -- made it out across the street there were allot of trucks , helicopters and shit going down. What the hell. Fired up my keitai and started recording. Apparantly something fell down in the Nagatacho subway exit (equipment the fireman said) but maybe it was the funky door thing they have ... and injured some people. I blogged the video on my site (http://www.tokyotonite.com) Sorry - no gore - I politely turned my camera away when they were bringing out the body(s). In addition to immediately blogging the video, I also broadcast it live to my office. In fact I was the only one in the crowd of about 100 reporters and bystanders to use my Keitai as a true 'video phone'. Wierd. Anyways, I love my job ;)
See you in PyonPyang!

Well good thing you didn't look for a plastic bag bag from a garbage bin as they have taken all the bloody things away*... now people just drop their rubbish anywhere - usually in a bike basket.

*supposedly to stop terrorists planting bombs** but I think it is to save money on cleaning staff.

**hello!!!! coin lockers!!!

Man dies after being pinned under ticket vending machine in Tokyo
(Kyodo) _ A 70-year-old security guard died Tuesday after being pinned under a ticket vending machine as he and his colleagues were carrying the 400 kilogram machine from a subway station in Tokyo, the Metropolitan Police Department said.
Two other men sustained serious injuries in the accident that took place on some exit stairs at Nagatacho subway station in Tokyo's Chiyoda Ward, police said.

Five people were carrying the machine with a carriage on the stairs to replace it with a new one. But the machine tipped over and slid about 2 meters off the stairs, according to police.

I know those machines are sufficiently armored to prevent break-ins, but jeez, 400 kilos? What did they do, fill it with change before transporting it?
