Atain Takitota? What a name. It's unlike any Japanese name I've heard before. Anyone know the kanji (has there been japanese press on this story?)

It sounds more like the kind of name you would expect from someone who wanted to create a name that sounded Japanese. My guess is that the Bahamian officials give him that name.

The entire story reeks of something fishy. I mean if his English language skills were so rotten why was he travelling by himself? He claims to have had a fairly substancial chuck of money and yet no one seems to have cared enough to inquire about him? Where was the guy staying? If a hotel, than this shouldn't have been a problem. Where did he leave his bags so that they were stolen? If he had not checked into a hotel why did he go to a casino?
