A nightclub manager was arrested Tuesday on suspicion of stealing about 1.8 million yen from the room of a dancer at his club in Wakayama, part of which he then used to pay her wages, the police said. The ruse was discovered Tuesday morning when the manager paid the 26-year-old Chinese dancer with a 10,000 yen note on which she had drawn a small mustache on the likeness of Yukichi Fukuzawa, the political theorist and author whose likeness appears on the note.
